Where on the spectrum do you place your blog?

Going through my RSS feeds in my ThunderBird client for some of the old items, I found a very interesting article by Stuart Brown at Modern Life Rubbish. Also according to the statistical writeup he had linked to the Technorati page about 35 million blogs were tracked by Technorati and the numbers were doubling every 6 months. About few month later, from an independent statistics, Blog Herald stated that the blog count had gone up to 70 million.

Blogs in Enterprises

This post comes in continuation of the series of posts about blog - particularly the uses of blog. In the last post, I mulled over the use of blog as a online magazine. This time around, we will look at the different aspects of blogs in enterprises and companies.

Enterprises or companies, big or small, are gradually moving into the Web 2.0 scenario and are using blogs (and wiki) in basically to different perspectives - internal and out facing. The out facing blogs generally speak of the company and are handled by the PR department of the company. They educate the customers and readers on their new products and services, and provide a way of feedback for them. It is basically an extension of the web-presence of the company. The internal use of blogs are quite handful for an enterprise. The uses basically dwell on enterprise wide communication and collaboration, that provides a catalyst effect for all the employees to innovate.

Blog - as online magazine?

In my last post, I talked about what it takes to blog, and the different types of blogs. That led me into doing a bit of mining the web and I went through a couple of articles, that made me to look at Blog as a online magazine.

Comment Subscription added

On a suggestion from Thilak on my other thread, after which I had a bit of chat with him over GTalk, and I could get the Comment Subscription Plugin for WordPress.. I got it from the Plugin’s Homepage, and it was a breeze installing it.

So, when you comment henceforth, you can subscribe to it, and get notifications whenever someone else replies.

Back to blogshpere

Yes, I moved my blog again. If I remember right, this would be the second move of my blog. I started blogging intially at Google’s Blogspot, where I had a blog by the name “Pondering’s of Mahesh Bhat”. I know - crappy title. I then chose BlogCharm to be by blog host for the reason that I wanted proper tagging of all my posts. The WordPress engine that was provided then by Blogspot did not allow for categories, and it resulted in a spawn of numerous blogs that I found cumbersome to handle. BlogCharm’s blog engine did provide for categories, so that all posts would be neatly organized. So, I moved into BlogCharm with a new name, Splat. It was a pretty steady stint there, and I was able to publish many titbits (splats) of information there.
