Orkut Adds Feeds

Seems like not many have noticed but I could be wrong. Or I could be the only one among the net-savvy to still use Orkut for networking with friends.

In any case, my friend pointed me to a modest link at the Orkut homepage.

You can choose that ‘edit feeds’ link to add any feed URL. Once it is added, it comes as another link under the profile links.

New Orkut Feed Link

It aggregates the content using the feed URL and conjures up a web page with it.

I am marginally excited though - I would have been more interested in a feed to my scraps. A feed to the scraps would make it much easier to keep track of conversations with your contacts.

Well, i’m sure many of us noticed about it. I was thinking of writing about it but hah, I’ve become a bit lazy…I’m sure you realize that too :P

I’m excited about it, because it can certainly help in increasing the readership just make use of the social networking :)

Yes, it could increase your readership. But on your profile page - it just gives it as link. If they had given a block or something like that with links to recent posts - that would have been much better at driving people to the blog.

    Poor Implementation, I gotta say!

If I were Google, I would let users read scraps and community topics via RSS along with a RSS Reader.

Plus, a separate page for RSS feeds would have been better since we can read lots of feeds that way

Yup. As I said - I was only marginally excited. I was wishing for a RSS feed for my scrap page.

Plus, a separate page for RSS feeds would have been better since we can read lots of feeds that way

Could you please elaborate on that. I think the feeds are shown on seperate page than profile.

And by the way, you should check out this little nifty trick that Mayank has posted: How to beat Orkut’s 12 photo limit!
