ORACLE DBA Toolbar
February 22nd, 2007 — Rosalin
Today in office I was working on some performance issue, of one of our processes (I basically work in Oracle Pl/SQL and Oracle Applications), a colleague of mine dropped by and told me about this DBA Toolbar (Download Link) from Oracle. Initially it seemed to me as a very recent release of Oracle, as I did not find many results when I googled it. But then I finally found out that in OTN Techblog, it was released at around end of November 2006.

Currently available only for MS Internet Explorer version 5.0 or above, the Mozilla/ Firefox compatible versions are next on the line. It is supported by Windows 98, 2000, NT and XP.
People who work in Software firms, and specifically who eat, drink and dream ORACLE, this is an excellent opportunity for them. This toolbar provides direct access to metalink, the bible for the DBA’s as well as developers. And has an easily installable SQL*Plus in it. The toolbar comes with the standard functionalities as the Pop-up blocker and Online support, complying to the FAQ’s. Apart from that one has direct access to Oracle’s online community OTN(Oracle Technology Network), facilitating a quick search for either a DBMS or performance tuning or SQL loader question. Oracle DBA Toolbar has RSS manager which helps it function as a RSS client. It gets you the latest Oracle news, updates and new downloads. And this RSS feed can be tailored to one’s requirement, and referred to others as well.
Features
- Pop-up Blocker
- Integrated RSS Manager
- OTN Search
- One-click access to SQL*Plus install, Downloads, MetaLink, and more
- Online Support FAQ
So, this toolbar seems to be an appealing platter of palatable items, for the Oracle Professionals as well as the amateurs. What say guys?
