Apple - Rotten to the core?

Green Peace LogoIt was last week when I was hurrying for my Guitar class, when I was handed out a copy of the Q4 issue of “The Witness“, Quarterly Newsletter of Greenpeace India. I had tucked it away as I was in a hurry for finishing the class and going of on a vacation.

Apple LogoIt was today, when I happened to read it, and one particular article with the above title caught my eye. I am no GreenPeace member, but I do respect the nature that I live in to the extent I can. And also, I am no fan-boy of Apple’s products, but I do have plans on getting myself an iPod.

The article was about the fact that the Apple Macs are full of toxic chemicals.

…You’d expect Apple to be the world leader in clean environmental practice. But they are not.

Far from it. Apple products contain hazardous substances which other manufacturers have committed to stop using. Even Indian IT major Wipro has committed to a take-back and recycling programme, But not Apple.

You can know more about the GreenPeace activity at their GreenPeace - Apple page, and at GreenMyApple.org.Well, I will be thinking twice before I plan on getting that iPod. How about you?

I guess Apple is just one of the companies
among thousands others who are still using
    these hazardous chemicals. Anyway, good
initiative of yours to spread the message.
