I earn the NaNoWriMo 2006 winners badge!

Here is a quick blog post on the results of my participation at NaNoWriMo that I had joined some time back and had started writing a novel at the beginning of November.

About 8 hours ago, I was able to finish my novel, reaching a word count of 50153 words. The deadline must have been crossed several minutes before and it was a close call for me.

Though I had done a good start, around the middle of the month, I was not able to write for more than a week. I was faced with a challenge of writing about 25 thousand words in the last four days. After sleepless nights and frustrated hours in front of my computer, I was able to make it.

The novel is in a state of draft now, that one of my cousin has offered to proof read. I will be polishing it to a finer state.

I am not sure if I will publish it or not - I am leaving the idea open.

Wow, i really bow low to your creativity and the courage to take this challenge… i witnessed the daily / weekly updates on your progress and really felt how heavy is the pressure on your shoulders, but i, and everyone i know, believed in you and - here we go, you got the winning badge!

Well done and my heartiest congratulations, looking forward to seeing it published!

  5. Vyoma Says:

Liza, thanks a lot. It was in most part, your support over at the forums that kept me going. I sure hope I can get it published.

    Hey Vinny, Nagu, and Sandy!
Now, I am not sure how many of the copies my publisher will be ready to give me to give to my friends. ;)

Joking aside, sure. I will send across a copy once it is in the finalized state.

  6. SP Says:

Great job dude! I’m looking forward to read your fantacy novel;-) Do send me a copy irrespective of whether it gets published or not.

    Congrats!

  7. Thilak Says:

Congrats, The badge looks pretty good. I’m eager to read your novel… do you have a ebook ?

  8. Vyoma Says:

Sure, SP. Will send you a copy, once it is out of ‘draft’ version.

Thilak, thank you. At present, it is only present as a document. A lot of proof-reading and correction is required before I publish it - traditionally or digital.

Hey, congrats! Will you be doing NaNoEdMo (National Novel Editing Month) in March? A buddy of mine is attempting to revive it: http://www.43things.com/entries/view/1422618.

  10. Little-chan Says:

Congratulations! You worked really hard on that, didn’t you? Just try to be more careful next time… Going without sleep can get you sick. We wouldn’t want that =(. But still- you tried really hard, clearly. So… Way to go! =D

  11. Vyoma Says:

Thanks LearningNerd. And about that NaNoEdMo - I might as well do it. Hope it gets revived.

And thank you Little-chan. Yes, it has been hard and as a matter of fact, I did fall sick for three days that kept me out of action for a week. True to your words, I have made it a point that I will not take too many of personal projects than I can take anytime in future.

  12. Little-chan Says:

Good to hear! Sorry to hear you got sick though. If you ever need help with something, feel free to ask! ^^

Oh… and, if possible, could I also get a copy? i don’t mind if it’s just the draft… i just like reading my friend’s stories. I find it fun. ^^”

  13. Vyoma Says:

Little, just hold on for a while - could you please. I really do not want to give a draft version out. Only my cousin who wants to help me out with editing has seen it, and I want to polish it a bit before I give it out.

    Hope you understand.
