Lately, you might have noticed that I have been quite unfaithful to my blogs. I have not been posting anywhere, and I think I can fairly justify that.

I have stumbled across two great pieces of software for 3d design and modelling. Blender and Wings 3D.

Blender was a proprietry software that went free and open-source some time back. It is as versetile as any other 3d design software out there and has a very neat capability of accepting plug-ins that are writen in Python.

It was a fine Friday evening, and I set out to meet my friends from my workplace. A common conclusion to such an excursion would mean that we are going to have a party, but such was not the case.

We drove our vehicles and parked it at Besent Nagar’s beach, that is, Elliot’s beach. Yes, I rode my Black Beauty to that place. From there, we hired an auto-rickshaw to the target beach which was further south.

We came to Neelanganai Beach at around 11:30. A person called Arun was organizing the event. It was supposed to be a 3 hour walk back to Elliot’s beach along the shore line. We were to look out for fresh nests of Olive Ridley turtles, and perform ‘egg-pulling’ - that is collect the eggs.

Working on the realm of Chaos And Order, I happened to notice one difference between this realm and others that were created by masters in the area. There was a lack of depth in terms of culture and history. To write about the culture and to write history, one would need to name a lot many things. The people, places, objects and even some actions need to be named. These name in turn flesh out the culture in that realm. These names define and differentiate between the different cultures of the realm.

For various reasons, one may need to have a place to discuss on a particular topic with others. A blog is a good way to do it, but it is mostly one person who contributes it, and the most others can do is to comment on it. Yes, there can be multiple authors for a single blog, but it would seem like there is something to be asked for when there are more than a handful of members.

To acomplish this, one can use forums. Forums had made its way to the internet way before blogs and other content mangement systems came in vogue. Forumns still maintain their usablility. Forums, or alternatively called as message-boards, allows a huge number of members to exchange ideas. Most notable advantage of forum, is that people from different time-zones can indulge in discussions.

I had been told many times by many people that I need to get a different forum skin for the RPG, Chaos And Order. (Well, if you click now, you will be looking at the forum with the new skin). The same thought had occured to me and my co-admin of the site, but had never got a chance to do it.

Thus, I set out to create on for it. A simple skin was required, that contained mimimum distraction, so that people could concentrate on the writing part. But it still had to look like it had a theme. To accomplish this, the aim was to have a skin with minimum or no images. Even if it did have, it would be for the logos and buttons and indicators.
