Conversations - Websites and blogs

Splat went through a bit of restructuring a couple of days back, and its primary aim was to improve the flow of information - conversation - between websites and blogs.

Websites have long become a place where the mode of information exchange is two-way in nature and not a traditional broadcast mode. People visit website, consume information and leave back their comments. If they find the given piece of information interesting enough, they would pass the link to their friends and acquaintances. There are even websites like Digg, del.icio.us, Furl and many more that have the sole purpose of letting the people share the information they have found on the different websites and blogs.

The blogs themselves have formed a group where conversations take place through commenting, trackbacks and pingbacks.

Some of the changes done to Splat in the past week that should make the finding and sharing of information easier are as follows:

• Search block has been placed in a prominent and easy to reach corner of the web page at the top right. The WordPress engine that runs Splat does a good job of fetching the posts when keywords are entered.
• The cumbersome comment list at the end of each posts have been restructured so that you may have clear view of all the conversations taking place in Splat.
• And last but not least, Alex King's 'Share This' Plugin, has been incorporated at the end of each post. With the help of this link, you would be able to email a blog post to your friends and contacts from the site itself. Also, you may submit the blog post to many social bookmarking sites - del.icio.us, Digg, Furl, Technorati to name a few. As I said, there are conversations taking place through out the internet and one who does not participate in it, becomes an island. Splat does not wish to be an island and these are the steps we took so that you can get to the information here easily and also share it with others.
