A long time back I did write on writer's block. I had even ventured out on writing a novella. But to be honest, that writer's block remained to date. I could make all sorts of excuses to not to write the novel that I had so much passion to write.
But I think, I have stumbled upon something that I hope can remove this writer's block - NaNoWriMo. It is a event that happens every year in the month of November. It stands for National Novel Writing Month.
At NaNoWriMo, thousands of 'want-to-be' authors gather for the online event where they participate to crank out a 50k word length novel. The emphasis is on quantity and not on quality. All unite and support each other in beating the deadline.
One may ask, at this point of time - of what use, the result of such event may be? It serves one purpose - unclog the writer's block. It stops the participants from giving all sorts of reason for not writing. At the end of the month, we get a novel, albeit one with lower quality. We at least have something instead of nothing now. We can always work on it, and refine it to get something out of it.
So, what is my word count now? It is hanging somewhere around 2k at the moment, but right after this post, before calling it a day, I would be pounding my keyboard, writing out the novel. You can check out the progress at my profile page at NaNoWriMo:
